Warren Bennis Leadership Experience
Experience #3: This Spring semester, I took the Warren Bennis Leadership Experience honors seminar.

Warren Bennis is one of UC's "founders of leadership". During his time as UC's 22nd President, Bennis changed the way public institutions were known to run, and faced a lot of negative feedback due to it. Despite this, UC and its students now use many of his leadership ideas and teachings based on his published book.
During my time in this course, we learned various lessons such as: vision and purpose, courage and vulnerability, emotional/intelligence quotients, psychological safety, teamwork, and more. Going through this course gave me a much deeper understanding of who I am as a leader, student, employee, and friend. It emphasized empathy and kindness while also pushing students to ensure they are prioritizing themselves and leading in a way where it is always still beneficial to you or those you set an example for.
I learned that one of my biggest setbacks or "saboteurs" as a student was that I constantly feel like I am not doing enough. This has led to a quicker rate of burnout and makes it hard for me to celebrate my successes. These lessons are all now playing into how I view myself and the definition of a Global Citizen Scholar.
During the second half of the course, I worked with a group to interview various leaders who focused on varying leadership styles by age. This was the biggest project we focused on. Click on the link to see my showcase portion of this experience!: MGMT 3009 Canva Presentation
